„Hard Candy“ hieß die letzte Platte von Madonna ― und das wäre auch ein guter Titel für den ersten Bildband des Duos Sandro & Maykson gewesen. Der eine ist Fotograf, der andere Art Director. Beide sind gerade mal Mitte zwanzig und ihre clever inszenierten und exzellent bearbeiteten Fotos sind das, was man sich unter „Hard Candy“ eben so vorstellt: sexy und poppig, mal süß, mal deftig, unwiderstehlich und verdammt lecker! Den beiden jungen Nachwuchstalenten ist es aber gelungen, einen Titel zu finden, der das ganze Konzept noch griffiger auf den Punkt bringt: ENJOY!
Die Aussage der Bilder ist eindeutig: Lebe deine Lust, egal, was die anderen sagen. Das ist vielleicht nicht bahnbrechend neu, aber so verdammt anregend umgesetzt, dass man davon nicht genug bekommen kann. Irgendwo zwischen Herb Ritts und MTV haben Sandro & Maykson eine Marktlücke entdeckt, die sie meisterhaft füllen!
Sandro Mantovani und Maykson Ribet wurden beide in Brasilien als Kinder italienischstämmiger Eltern geboren. Seit 5 Jahren arbeiten sie zusammen in Mailand und London und konnten sich vor allem als Modefotografen einen Namen machen.

Enjoy, le premier livre du duo Sandro & Maykson
Sandro Mantovani (photographe) et Maykson Ribet (directeur artistique) sont tous les deux d'origine italienne, mais nés au Brésil. Ils n'ont pas la trentaine mais travaillent déjà ensemble depuis 5 ans (leur site internet), principalement à Londres et Milan. Enjoy (96 pages en couleurs) est le titre de leur premier livre qui sera publié en août par Bruno Gmünder. Mises en scène intelligentes et excellents traitements informatiques - quoique parfois un peu exagérés - sont leurs marques de fabrique, comme leurs plus notables muses : Enrico & Marcello de Giuli, modèles, partenaires et escort boys de luxe (ci-dessous à gauche). CULTURE QUEENS
“Hard Candy“ is the name of Madonna’s last record and this would have been a good name for the first photo book of Sandro & Maykson as well. Their pictures are cleverly staged and excellently processed and they pretty much visualize what “Hard Candy” brings to your mind: They are sexy and jazzy, sometimes sweet, sometimes hearty, irresistible and so damn delicious!
But the two young Brazilian talents actually found a term that puts their whole concept in a nutshell even better: "Enjoy."

Photographer Sandro Mantovani and art director Maykson Ribet are both of Italian origin, but were born in Brazil. Though in their mid-twenties, they have been working together for five years now, mainly in London and Milan. Enjoy is the title of their first photo book which has just been published by Bruno Gmünder. Clever staging and excellent processing — even if sometimes slightly overdone — are their trademark, along with their most notable muses: models, life-partners and ‘high-class escorts’ Enrico and Marcello de Giuli [above, Enrico playing sub].
Many other boys are starring in this 96-page tome to be released in October on this side of the pond.

Après Shaun Stafford et Hannes, le duo de photographes londoniens Sandro & Maykson nous a envoyé ce week-end leur toute nouvelle série de photos chaude comme la braise avec Maykon Freitas, un beau brésilien : Maykon Freitas.
Ces photos nous rappellent lorsque les vieux téléviseurs captaient mal par moment ce qui passait sur l’écran ;-)

THOSE BORN AND RAISED IN A BIG CITY SOMETIMES TEND TO FORGET LIFE IN SMALL VILLAGES IS ENTIRELY DIFFERENT. SPECIALLY WHEN IT COMES TO COMING OUT. YOU NEED TO HAVE A STRONG PERSONALITY AND WILL OF YOUR OWN IF YOU WANT TO SUCCEED IN MAKING A HAPPY LIFE FOR YOURSELF. TO BREAK FREE FROM CONSERVATIVE LIFE AND SOCIAL EXPECTATIONS, SPREAD YOUR WINGS AND FLY OUT. IT ALL HAPPENED TO HANNES. BUT WHEN HE FLEW, HE FLEW FAR.
Hannes Ortner was born and raised in a conservative catholic surrounding of a small village somewhere in the mountains of Austria. His weekly activities used to include early breakfasts, going to church, horseback riding, swimming in summer and snowboarding in winter. All together not too bad, but when you are 16 and have come to accept you are gay, you probably want more than that. Realizing that, even though reasonably open-minded- his fellow-villagers would not be ready to see him waling hand in hand with a lover – let alone kissing him - Hannes came to the conclusion it might be better to change his protected mountain life for the more exciting seductions of living in a big city and even an other country. And thus he made the logical choice to move… to China…
Eager to enrich himself with new cultural experiences, and a scholarship in his pocket, Hannes took of to China. You can imagine it must have been quite a culture shock to start a life there, but Hannes loved every second of it. He spent one year in China before moving to Japan for another few months and eventually Taiwan. But soon Hannes came to the conclusion that even though experiencing new cultures was an enriching experience, he could not express his sexuality as he wanted, and that need brought him back to Europe. London to be precise.
In London Hannes experienced gay life as now where else. He shared living accommodations with four friends – two Argentine and two Spanish – and the five of them explored every gay outlet the British capital had to offer. And when he eventually met the man of his life who introduced him to the party scene, Hannes had found gay paradise and couldn’t get enough. London became a too small playing ground end the two of them soon found party satisfaction all over the world. Amsterdam, Barcelona, Madrid, Paris, Brazil. You name it. Hannes was unstoppable.
I know what you are thinking. Is this story going to end good? I mean, from conservative mountain lad to international party boy… But Hannes is a smart guy and – even though he still likes to enjoy a good dance event every now and then – he safely smoothed his feathers and settled down in London with his boyfriend, where he works hard at his latest venture, his own on line business - linguistics-consulting.com – in which he successfully offers his great business analyst and language skills. –B-
